Jim Nichols is an experienced senior finance executive and CPA with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations build strong financial and operational foundations for growth. Throughout his career, Jim has worked with startups, growing businesses, consulting organizations, and private equity-backed companies, providing leadership across finance, accounting, FP&A, financial reporting, internal controls, and M&A.

Jim specializes in helping business owners and executive teams establish the structure and processes necessary to support growth. His experience includes building finance and accounting functions, implementing internal controls, developing budgets and forecasts, improving financial reporting, and establishing banking, tax, payroll, HR, insurance, and legal relationships.

As Chief Financial Officer of Utilligent LLC, Jim helped lead the company through a significant period of growth, expanding from five employees in 2012 to more than 100 employees and contractors in 2023. He established the company's financial and operational infrastructure, led FP&A and M&A activities, and played a key role in the successful sale of the company to E Source Companies.

Through Jim Nichols LLC, Jim worked with startup and rapidly growing companies that needed experienced financial leadership without necessarily requiring a full-time CFO. He provided hands-on support in establishing accounting and finance infrastructure, improving reporting and controls, developing budgets and forecasts, and building the operational relationships needed to support sustainable growth.
